Columbia High School is looking for alumni who have served in the U.S. military.
In preparation for Veterans Day 2024, the Leadership class is seeking information about CHS graduates who have served in the military, and we could use some help contacting them.
We will be featuring a small number of veterans as speakers and guests at the November 8 assembly in the CHS gymnasium, but even if your CHS grad/veteran no longer lives in the area, we would like to add him or her to our Veterans Day events. We are also looking for digital copies of photos from years of service to go along with senior/yearbook photos we’ll be displaying in a video tribute.
Please contact Peter Knowles by email at peter.knowles@whitesalmonschools.org, or by phone at (509)493-1970 ext. 225 with information about the veteran’s years of service and branch of service, as well as year of graduation from CHS.

Staff and Families,
This morning at approximately 8:00am, law enforcement received a report of a threat of harm directed toward a student at Henkle Middle School. Out of an abundance of caution our school district quickly implemented our safety procedures and secured students and staff safely inside buildings while suspending access to facilities. This “soft lock-down” is in place at Columbia High School, Henkle Middle School and Wallace and Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate School.
Law enforcement arrived within minutes and are working with school administration to determine the credibility of the threat.
We will share more information with families and staff as it becomes available; not later than 9:30am.
Thank you for your understanding.
Rich Polkinghorn, Superintendent
