Dear WSVSD Families and Community,

Many industries across the nation are experiencing staffing shortages and service disruptions because of COVID-19’s highly contagious Omicron variant. Unfortunately, our local community is seeing very high COVID case rates and our schools are also experiencing some of the same staffing issues we see impacting other industries.

Our schools continue to maintain our current health and safety protocols, as well as offer testing to students who experience symptoms while at school.

Our leaders are also developing plans to cover staffing shortages, if they occur, due to illness or quarantine. We do not anticipate having to transition to fully remote learning, however it is possible that schools or classrooms may experience intermittent disruptions. If this occurs, we will communicate with families about changes as quickly as possible.  Families should monitor their email, text messages, our district website and/or Facebook page for ongoing updates from schools.

We understand that any adjustment to school schedules is very challenging for everyone. Please know that we are committed to keeping families informed, and most importantly, safe.

Thank you for your continued patience as we respond to this rapidly evolving COVID landscape.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sean McGeeney
Superintendent
