Third Grade has been participating in the Salmon Civilization Program with Pamela Larsen. Throughout this program we have been learning all about the importance of Celilo Falls. Today, we did a super fun Trade Activity where each group of students represented a different tribe that would come to Celilo to trade for goods. They traded fish, buffalo, turquoise, corn, elk, obsidian, tobacco, cedar, shells, wappato root, blankets, and whale oil. The tricky part was they couldn't speak the same language. So the students had to figure out other ways to communicate while trading.
