Hello Bruins,
As we start the 2020-21 school year, we are choosing to lead with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). While SEL skills are always important, we recognize that now especially, we need to keep the well-being of our kids in at the forefront of our hearts, minds, and teaching. Our plan is to have a monthly theme and activities for the entire White Salmon Valley District, and to share and invite families to participate as well.
For September, our focus was on Self-Awareness. Each student at CHS wrote a letter to their future self, the person they will be in June, 2021. These letters guided students to think about their hopes and fears for the coming school year, and also to reflect on their current feelings.
We have found this to be a great way to get to know more about our students, and hope that they will share their letters with you as well. Ask them about it, and feel free to write one of your own to share with your student- what would you tell your future self?
